It is hard to believe that the school year is over already. This has been a challenging and exciting year as we entered a new chapter in Edwalton’s history with Mr Thomas starting in September as our new Head Teacher.
Recruiting the right person to take Edwalton forward was a huge responsibility for the Governing Body to get right and certainly one of the biggest decisions we would face. However, with the support of the Flying High Trust we certainly feel that Mr Thomas was the right fit for the school. Even in such a short time we can see that he has strengthened the ethos of the school whilst ensuring the children remain at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
There are many things to celebrate about Edwalton this year and we apologise if we have not mentioned everything!
Foundation now have a wonderful outdoor learning space which will benefit them for years to come. We have also recently upgraded our IT equipment and now have new interactive screens in some of the classrooms as well as laptops for the children to develop their IT skills in their everyday learning.
We have a fantastic team at Edwalton and every one of them contributes to the school vision and ensures our children have wonderful learning opportunities such as the farm and the wood. This will continue to develop into the next academic year and beyond.
The trust awards last week just go part way to showcasing what an amazing school this is and it makes us all proud to be part of it. Our visits into school this year have included getting an insight from the children into school life and it is clear how much they enjoy being here.
Of course, as with all schools we continue to face financial pressure as costs increase and government funding remains flat. The continued support from EPSPA makes a lot possible, so we would like to offer our thanks to everyone who contributes.
We are a strong, supportive and challenging governing body which includes parents and ex-parents. We all have a vested interest in the development of the school and together with the support from the Trust we work hard to ensure this happens. The results demonstrate continuing improvement but more importantly this is not at the detriment of developing the whole child.
Enjoy the summer!
