Edwalton Primary School is a special place to be; full of happy and enthusiastic children, extremely caring and hardworking staff, a supportive community of parents/carers and a knowledgeable and committed Governing Body.
- We continually strive to be the best version of ourselves and have high expectations of staff and our children - We aim for 'Excellence at Edwalton'.
- We develop resilience in all our children; to innovate, collaborate and problem solve but to keep trying, adapt and never give in.
- We recognise the importance of our environment and are lucky to have our own woodland and farm. Our children experience first hand the responsibility of looking after animals and working outdoors and recognise the wider responsibility we have to our world.
Our curriculum principles are A.L.I.V.E –
Aspirational,
Long term memory,
Inclusive,
Vocabulary rich
Experiences
We value the skills and qualities our staff bring to meet the needs of our children and provide a curriculum which is bespoke to our school. We ensure this curriculum follows the above principles and utilises our woodland, farm and extensive grounds to provide real life context to learning and growth. We ensure we provide hooks and authentic outcomes for learning to be truly memorable and embedded. Being the first ever generation to grow up in a completely digital world surrounded by phones and tablets, we also provide experiences which can hone and develop these skills whilst ensuring they look after and value our planet.
At Edwalton, we aim to provide a positive, inclusive environment, where children feel happy and safe and flourish due to the care, nurture, support and challenge they receive. We celebrate difference in our diverse school community and every child’s achievement, no matter how small, is celebrated. Every smile is our reward.
Safeguarding practice and systems across the school are strong and robust. Children's safety and well-being is paramount. Children always come first.
We have high expectations for our children, enabling them to develop, grow, and thrive. Children’s social, moral, spiritual and cultural development, as well as their happiness and well-being, are a key priority. we offer a range of extra-curricular opportunities from various sports and music provision to specific nurture programmes and aim to develop fully rounded young people.
Through our bespoke curriculum, we aim to equip our children with the right balance of social, emotional and academic skills to enable them to achieve academic success but also to become special people with a moral outlook.
