As Head Teacher of this wonderful and unique school I have a firm commitment to raise our aspirations yet not compromise the school’s proud characteristics.
Safeguarding practice and systems across the school are strong and robust. Children's safety and well-being is paramount.
I have taken great pride in my previous roles, in both my teaching capacity and in Senior Leadership, across Nottingham City and endeavour to bring that same energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the children at Edwalton. I leave an outstanding school with the aim of taking Edwalton to that same place, but appreciate that the children always come first. Every child’s achievement, no matter how small, and every smile is our reward.
I am the proud dad of three young men and fully understand life as a parent. Life is never boring! My house is full of footballs and dirty rugby clothes, but also smiles. My door is always open so I welcome parents and carers to pop in as I’m here to help – give me a knock!
Our vision 'Making a difference, every day' encapsulates our aim to be relentless in helping our children thrive. At Edwalton Primary School we aim to provide a positive, inclusive environment where children feel happy and safe and flourish due to the care, nurture, support and challenge they receive. We take great pride in caring for our wonderful sustainable, environment and celebrate difference in our diverse school community. We value the skills, talents and qualities our staff bring to meet the needs of our children.
We are an aspirational school. It is my aim that our standards of teaching and learning will continue to improve. Challenging targets for improvement are set annually and opportunities for teachers to learn alongside experienced colleagues and our two SLEs, coupled with a staff meeting schedule focused clearly on our SIP priorities, will continue to raise the standard of teaching and learning. Every day counts.
We have high expectations for our children, enabling them to develop, grow, and thrive. We provide challenge, enjoyment and encourage our children to be independent learners, problem solvers and team-players. Children’s social, moral, spiritual and cultural development, as well as their happiness and well-being, are a key priority; extra-curricular opportunities and nuture programmes aim to develop fully rounded young people. Through our 'Children First' curriculum, we aim to equip our children with the right balance of social, emotional and academic skills to enable them to achieve academic success but also to become special people with a moral outlook.
At Edwalton the child will always be at the centre of all we do.
