Recognising Achievements

Sports Awards

We feel that it is important to recognise and value the contribution children make to sport at Edwalton whether it be in lessons or in the extra-curricular setting. Children feel valued as we don’t just look to recognise attainment. We believe it raises the ethos of sport within our school and helps to enrich the lives of our children.

We have an award system in place to highlight performances across all key stages.

These are awarded termly and a child is selected for each of the following attributes:

  • Effort
  • Attainment
  • Progress
  • Leadership
  • Most Improved

Medals are presented in a special sporting assembly at the end of term and the child’s name put on the plaque to be displayed in our reception area.

PE performance tree

In every PE lesson a child is chosen from their class as a star performer from their lesson. This could be because they have showed progress, determination, teamwork, cooperation, excellence. They are given a special leaf which is placed on the PE performance tree following their lesson. At the end of each term, all the leaves are collected off the tree and put in to a raffle. If the children are drawn from the raffle they win a special sporting prize.

Royston and Lund Sports Personality of the Year

Each year we receive a generous donation from Royston and Lund which is presented to one of our outstanding performers across PE and Sport. This money is then spent on PE equipment and the nominated pupil chooses how this money is spent. In the past we have been able to buy new football goals and high hurdles for athletics.

Rushcliffe School Sports Partnership Awards

In term 3, Rushcliffe School hold their annual Primary School Sports Awards evening and we are asked to nominate 2 boys and girls from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 who demonstrate outstanding effort and achievement in PE, Sport and Leadership.
