Year 5 - Cedar & Maple

Thinking about racism

We have been learning about and reflecting upon what being anti-racist means & made personal pledges to act upon racism.

Discovering India

Year 5 have been taking a 'virtual' tour around India. After visiting the Taj Mahal and the National Gandhi museum, we have sampled mouth-watering samosas and aromatic potato curry. The children awarded our chefs 3 Michelin stars!

Filming Day 2...

Today we’re explaining the scale of the solar system.

Stargazing

We’re making our own mini-documentaries to showcase our knowledge of Earth and our solar system, thanks to support from EPSPA and inspiration from @ProfBrianCox and @daraobriain

Faith & Culture Day preparations

Library Fundraiser

Well done to our Year 5 entrepreneurs, making and selling some wonderful creations to raise funds for our school library.

Reading campaign

Year 5 are making videos to campaign to raise the profile of reading!

Computing

Year 5 have been busy creating their own computer programs!

Making Viking poo!

Visit to Perlethorpe

An amazing (slightly damp) day out at Perlethorpe Environmental Education Centre with Magnus the Viking. We enjoyed hearing about the history and mythology of the Vikings, made Norse inspired jewellery and constructed Viking settlements in the woods.

Viking Boy

Year 5 spent an afternoon in the woods. We collected firewood, lit a fire using a flint and steel and settled down around the fire to listen to the first chapter of 'Viking Boy' to kick off our Viking topic.

Speak out, stay safe

Year 5 had a visit from Buddy and representatives from the #speakoutstaysafe programme this morning. We discussed our rights to speak out and be safe, to be heard and to get help when we need it.
